BBQ at Langdon Hall
Ranked number 77 in the world on S. Pellegrino's best restaurant list (only 1 other restaurant made the cut in Canada - Calgary's Rouge), and awarded five diamonds by CAA/AAA for six consecutive years, Langdon Hall chef Jonathan Gushue brings some serious game.
Located about an hour outside of Toronto near Cambridge, Langdon Hall, described on the website as a country house hotel and spa, is that, but also much more. Immediately upon arriving you feel a sense of calm and relaxation. The pool speaks for itself.
The rooms make you feel like you're at a cottage (with a very comfortable bed), there's a gorgeous garden, tennis courts, and even a croquet field. But it's also that award winning kitchen that keeps people coming back, and even making the trip just for breakfast, lunch or dinner...or maybe all three. This summer Langdon Hall decided to throw a special BBQ series every Friday evening. They invited guest chefs up to cook, charged $55 dollars and created a spectacular menu. This particular Friday included Bonnie Stern and the Drake Hotel's Anthony Rose. Pretty good combo if you ask me :)
Bonnie's Succotash
Anthony's Blueberry Bar
the Zucchini and perch seem like keepers as far as future picnics go.
ReplyDeleteI've recently had lunch at Per Se and am currently obsessed in hitting up some of the restos on San Pellegrino list. Since I am from Toronto, Langdon Hall is calling! I've been surfing for info, and that's how I came across your review. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOkay so Mark -
ReplyDeleteI've followed this blog for some time now and there are many places reviewed I am still dying to check out. However the food in this one looks beyond! The next time you hit this event I best be coming with you ;) I guess I'll have to wait until next summer...
Ps. Bonnie Stern is so cute!! Does she teach cooking classes ever?
