A Day in Stratford, Ontario
With only a few weekends left in summer, one perfect way of spending a Sunday is by taking a road trip to Stratford, Ontario. Located approximately 2 hours from Toronto, the sleepy town is home to the world famous Stratford Shakespeare Festival and of course also home to the world famous Justin Bieber. Here is how you should spend your day.
11:30am - Brunch at Foster's Inn. Head to this colourful restaurant for a cheap and cheerful meal. The caramelized apples and cheddar french toast is not to be missed. Also pictured - the crab benedict and one of their daily specials. And if you're looking for a place to stay overnight check out Foster's rooms above the restaurant.
1:00pm - Take a walk around Market Square. Located just down the street from the Foster's Inn, on Sunday's in the summer Stratford's slow food market sets up shop. Peruse the flowers, breads, pastries, and fresh fruit and veggies.
2:00pm - See a Stratford show at the Shakespeare Festival. Lots of productions to choose from this season including 42 Street and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. Oh, and if you're looking for some Shakespeare there's that too. Be sure to spend some time exploring the grounds - by the river and the flower garden near the theatre.
6:00pm - Dinner at Mercer Hall. This new restaurant is a great place to unwind after a show and enjoy a big comfort food filled dinner. The warm pretzel bread will work wonders on your grumbling stomach. There are also rooms above the restaurant.
8:00pm - Skip dessert at dinner and head to Dairy Queen before the drive home.
P.S. the Savour Stratford Culinary Festival is taking place from Sept 21 - 23. You can find out much more about the event by clicking here.
