Maison Publique - Montreal

On a recent trip to Toronto, Brit superstar Jamie Oliver said he'd never been to Montreal, but couldn't wait to get there.  And he had good reason - he was attending the opening of Maison Publique.  Mr. Oliver is an investor in the restaurant, the brainchild of his good friend and chef Derek Dammann.

Located in the plateau neighbourhood of Montreal, Maison's brunch menu is small, so small it's handwritten on a small piece of paper (not that we're complaining).  It's also in french, so if you don't fully speak the language, just ask.  The staff were eager to explain each dish in detail.  On our plates that Sunday morning - the bison tongue sandwich that came thinly sliced and loaded with parmesan, and the breakfast english muffin with an egg, sausage patty, cheese and some sort of amazing sweet secret sauce.  We also ordered the bubbles and squeak (a truly English classic) as a side.
Just seeing the large fluffy pancakes served with big strips of bacon walk by us, made our mouths water. And if you're up for a challenge, there's the breakfast for two which includes - get ready - pork chops, blood pudding, bone marrow, sausage, bacon, baked beans and toast.

MP is open for dinner and weekend brunch.
